Solar system company SunPower Corporation, just announced that the company has installed a solar power system totaling 132 kilowatts on the rooftops of two Bon Preu Esclat stores located outside of Barcelona, Spain. The Ca-based company is blending in organic cotton into some of their namesake brands while buying new brands that include sustainable fibers. The range cannot be characterized as expansive, but it does include one of our new favorites, Viridis Luxe, whose sustainable cashmere hemp knits are seen above.

As according to Treehugger.com one hapless television news crew discovered, store-bought Halloween costumes frequently contain a boatload of carcinogens and reproductive toxins such as lead, cadmium, and pthalates, particularly those made from PVC or vinyl. Even the PVC packaging most costumes come embalmed in can leave phthalate residues on their surfaces.

Shoes are to environmentally conscious people the equivalent of what blood transfusions are to Mormons: sure, your beliefs run deep, but when your health is a stake, all of a sudden the choice appears clearer.
